Affectionately called "Gabo," for Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who lived and worked in Cartagena, was one of Colombia´s most prominent writers and a winner of the nobel prize for literature. He is known for his world-famous "magical realism" novels, like One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967) and Love in the Time of Cholera (1985).
